Whale Song - Page 24
Hey!” Diana protested as she shot her sister an annoyed look. “Don't offer him my body for your shower! Offer your own!"
“My body, your body, both our bodies,” Phoebe said with a dismissive wave of her hand and a grin barely visible underneath the mud. “Right now I'm willing to do whatever it takes if it gets me a shower!”
Now trying to push that image out of my mind, I reminded myself that I really should examine both of them for any lingering effects, and to have a serious heart-to-heart with them about the proper use of their obvious talents.
That thought really didn't help, and my indecision must have shown on my face.
“She's kidding,” Diana assured me.
“I'm really not!” Phoebe chirped.
I sighed, seeing no good way out of this. “Come on,” I huffed. “We can work out the details after we shower.” I almost forgot to add “Separately!”, an near-oversight on my part which prompted both of them to snicker in a way that hurt my sense of dignity.
The sun was just starting to peek out from behind the rapidly dissipating clouds as I prepared to open the portal back to my home when I realized something.
You're being awfully quiet all of a sudden, I told the monster. Did you run out of snarky comments or what?
Like I said earlier, Gore, it chuckled. You don't need me for some things, so I'm just going to sit back and watch for a bit. I await with baited breath to see just how you manage to screw this up, because we both know that you will!
I hated it when it was right.
